About Alicia Eaton
Alicia is a Behaviour Change Therapist and author with over 20 years’ experience working with children, teenagers, parents and adults.
Her work is shaped by child development, behaviour change and emotional wellbeing — helping families understand why patterns develop, and how they can be changed in ways that are practical, respectful and often surprisingly effective.
Foundations in Child Development
Alicia’s work is grounded in formal training in child development.
She originally trained as a Montessori teacher and went on to run her own school for five years, developing a deep, practical understanding of how children grow, learn and regulate themselves.
She later worked at the Anna Freud Centre in London, supporting families with young children alongside psychoanalysts, and undertook postgraduate study in child development as part of the MSc in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology at University College London.
These early foundations continue to shape her work, particularly her emphasis on developmentally appropriate change, emotional safety and understanding behaviour in context rather than in isolation..
Psychotherapy, Behaviour Change & Subconscious Work
Following her work at the Anna Freud Centre, Alicia trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist, before completing advanced NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) training with Paul McKenna.
She went on to assist Paul McKenna with his internationally renowned change-work seminars for over seven years and gained extensive experience in subconscious approaches to habit change, weight loss, confidence and emotional regulation.
Alongside her psychotherapy work, Alicia has continued to update her clinical practice with specialist training in psycho-sensory and body-based approaches, including Thought Field Therapy (Callahan) and Havening Techniques.
She is also qualified to teach Mindfulness, having trained at Oxford University’s Mindfulness Centre, and regularly integrates mindfulness-based principles into her work with both children and adults.
At the National Centre for Eating Disorders she attended trainings for binge-eating and childhood obesity.
Alicia has run a successful private practice in London’s Harley Street for over two decades, with a particular focus on behaviour change — helping people overcome anxiety, change unwanted habits and improve emotional wellbeing.
Author & International Publishing
Alicia is the author of five books on behaviour change, communication and emotional wellbeing.
Her book Stop Bedwetting in 7 Days has been a global best-seller since 2009 and is recommended by NHS hospitals in the UK, as well as by paediatricians and healthcare professionals internationally, including in the Netherlands.
First Aid for Your Child’s Mind has been published and translated by overseas publishers in Germany, Greece, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and China (both simplified and traditional characters), reflecting the international relevance of her work with children and families.
Her earlier book Fix Your Life with NLP was published by Simon & Schuster, with foreign rights sold to Russia and India, and continues to be used by trainers and practitioners internationally.
She is also the author of Words That Work: How to Get Kids to Do Almost Anything, a psychology-based parenting book widely used by families and professionals.
Her latest book, Mind How Your Kids Eat, explores how children’s relationships with food are shaped emotionally and psychologically — and how early experiences around eating, control and reward can influence habits for life.
“Alicia has a real gift for communicating complex ideas in a way that makes them easy to incorporate into your daily routine. I highly recommend her work.”
Children’s mental health challenges can be difficult for parents too.
Additional support from Alicia for yourself, can make all the difference.
